Yerilla

Yerilla

Regal holds 100 per cent of tenements covering most of the old Yerilla Gold Mining Centre located approximately 160km north-northeast of Kalgoorlie and 35km southeast of Kookynie.

Regal's consolidation of the tenements into one group allows it to conduct systematic exploration programs for gold over the numerous targets at Yerilla. Past exploration has concentrated on the lines of old workings. There has been limited exploration outside these areas, which remain largely untested. Modern geochemical soil sampling techniques may well enable further targets to be outlined. Most of the reconnaissance drilling has been shallow and has not tested below the oxide zone. There remains the possibility that much of the oxide zone is depleted in economic gold mineralisation and it can be concluded that much of the potential to host narrow high grade deposits remains untested, especially in the fresh rock. The Yerilla King has historically been the largest producer and it is open along strike and at depth. The Melba, Queen of The Earth and the Viola are open at depth and other prospects such as Rise Again have significant potential.

The geology of the Yerilla district consists of a sequence of mafic volcanics with minor ultramafics and epiclastic sediments. The rocks strike north-northwest and have variable dips due to folding. Several strike parallel shears have developed within the sequence. A late-stage syntectonic granite intrudes the greenstones. Structural control is the most significant factor in locating the gold mineralisation. The majority of gold has been found in complex structural features that are usually occupied by quartz veins and close to the granite greenstone contacts.

There are a number of attractive gold exploration targets within the project area which allow for significant exploration in untested areas. Also, little work appears to have been done to test the ultramafic units for their nickel potential.
