Mt Zephyr
The Mt Zephyr area is located approximately 65km west-northwest of Laverton, and 70km northeast of Leonora. Previous work suggests that there are similarities between the mineralisation at Mt Zephyr and that at Mt Morgans (1.2Moz past production, some 50km to the southeast along strike), notably: the presence of strongly sheared and faulted chert and BIF, strong structural control of the ore bodies being contained within the major north trending shear (Ninnis Fault) and mineralisation associated with felsic intrusives and pervasive alteration.
A line of old workings at Mt Zephyr is concentrated on the eastern side of a BIF ridge which trends north-northwest and outcrops for approximately 5km. The gold occurrences are associated with the Ninnis Fault and associated splays, which generally trend northeast. Soil and stream sediment sampling by previous explorers identified a number of gold prospects in the Mt Zephyr project area, which are yet to be drill tested.
The Mt Zephyr area is also prospective for zinc and nickel. A previous explorer identified and drilled a VMS horizon with a best drilling result of 14m at 1.17% zinc, 0.2% lead and 14 g/t silver. Also, a >1000ppm nickel signature coincident with an IP anomaly has been defined over a length of 1,700m. This has not yet been drill tested.
